  • I purchased a sealed copy of Call of Duty 3 on PS3 from him and never recieved it. It has been almost 20 days since the deal went down and I can\'t get a response from him. He has logged into the forums since I have pm\'ed him over 4 times, so I know he is alive an well.

dutnguye was the Seller on August 28, 2007 AnandTech

Bad Trader, doesn\'t respond, unless it is you paying him, hasn\'t shipped items etc... I am persuing Paypal for a refund on the payment.

    Response from dutnguye
I refund the buyer and it was my fault, i was negligent in handling this affair and trusted my roomate to ship out the item.

  • Purchased 2gb DDR500, AMD 3800+, & an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe.

dutnguye was the Seller on February 20, 2008 AnandTech

Communication before the sale was fine, as was communication afterwards. He kept me updated on a four day delay in shipping.

When I received the parts, they were not packed very well. Duy failed to disclose that he had replaced the stock southbridge fan with an aftermarket hsf that did not align with the holes on the board, & that he had glued/epoxied the hsf in place. Of course, the hsf broke off in transit.

I initially contacted Duy requesting a refund because I didn\'t want to spend the time cleaning the southbridge (he had not used a standard, easy to remove thermal grease/adhesive) & the extra money on a replacement hsf. This request was ignored.

I had to spend two hours removing the excessive gunk he had applied to the southbridge & $15 on a replacement heatsink. This is not acceptable.

Furthermore, the parts were absolutely filthy when I received them. He clearly does not know how to apply thermal grease, nor does he bother to maintain his gear or at least clean it prior to selling it. I\'ve seen some nasty-looking parts before, but these were totally gross. It took me another two hours to clean the board, excess thermal grease around the cpu socket, & the hsf.

It has been a week since I contacted Duy, still with no response. I would avoid this trader unless you like unpleasant surprises & dirty parts.

  • I purchased a 1gig SODIMM of DDR2 667mhz RAM. Duy instead sent me a 533mhz SODIMM.

Anyone can sell used computer parts online. How a seller handles problems is a major component of what separates good sellers from bad. A little advice, DO NOT PAY DUY WITH PAYPAL AS A GIFT.

Conversations with Duy initially went very well. He was quick to respond and shipped promptly.

I understand people make mistakes. When I approached Duy about the RAM and reimbursing me for return shipping, he agreed to take it back BUT he would not properly reimburse me for return shipping.

To save on money, he requested that I send it back to him in a letter envelope and would reimburse me an additional 44 cents for a stamp. I thought it was odd to me but it would end up being his RAM and not mine. I messaged him to confirm the RAM being shipped unprotected and that he would reimburse me for item tracking. He said he would not pay for tracking, only 44 cents.

I find this unacceptable as shipping the wrong RAM was his fault and not mine. I should NOT have to bear the risk of the letter getting lost in return transit or not having proof of delivery. I could then be out my money for a mistake which was not mine.

To be accommodating, save Duy money and reach what I thought was a middle-ground, I offered to ship it back to him in an envelope without tracking if he refunded my money first. He swiftly declined.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of trusting Duy and paying with PayPal as a gift to save him a little money on this sale since initial conversations went so well. Now, I do not have the option of getting all my money back through proper mediation.

    Response from dutnguye
okay to make it short and simple
i sold him a $10 memory stick, it was not what he was looking for. i told him send it back and i refund it. it's a small stick and it would fit into a regular envelope first class mail, and that i would pay for that part of shipping back. But he refused and wants me to pay for delivery confirmation which is unnecessary because i would refund to him when it comes anyway. Not like i would rip him off for $10 dollars. Instead, we went back and forth on this and he left me this negative over $10 dollars. Its not the money, it's the principle that I held. I already told him i would refund him when i receive the stick.

  • I bought an Alienware 17 R3 laptop from dutnguye.

dutnguye was the Seller on January 20, 2019 HardForum

Here is why I am leaving negative feedback. I know he has 1032-3 feedback, but people change. This is relevant for 2019. I contacted dutnguye to purchase the laptop on 1-20-19. He was asking $600 OBO. After some haggling, we agreed to $525 shipped. I asked him for a PayPal invoice and a photo of the laptop, which he sent. In the invoice and photo, there was no mention of any damages. I agreed to the deal and paid him the money.

On 1-24-19, I received the laptop in the mail. When I opened it, I noticed significant damages to the right rear cooling vent and case joint. The slats on the vent were completely destroyed, and the case joint was cracked along 2". There was maybe 2-3mm of separation between the palmrest and the back side. Also some more cosmetic damages to the case.

    Photos: https://imgur.com/a/uUV9RZP

I told dutnguye that the laptop was damaged in shipping and if he had insurance. He replied "That was already there before shipping". I asked him why he would send a laptop with damages without informing me of them. He said that the damages did not affect the functionality of the laptop, and it was my fault for not asking for photos before buying the laptop. This wasn't true, as I did ask for a photo and the 2" crack in the case joint could affect cooling temps, structural integrity, and peridoic maintenance. I demanded a full return of the money, including the shipping price. Dutnguye said he would refund the money, but said I had to pay for shipping. I said no, I will not pay your shipping cost due to your fault. Dutnguye said he wasn't at fault and I filed a PayPal dispute.

As of today I am still waiting on a response from the PayPal resolution center. I am in shock that a highly reputable seller with over 1000 reviews such as dutnguye would handle this transaction as poorly and miserably as he did. The whole time, communication from him was also very tense and unpleasant. To summarize:

    - Sold me a $525 laptop with significant damages without informing me of these damages beforehand

    - Refused to take ownership of the problem, tried to blame me for his poor practices. I was forced to open a dispute with PayPal

    - Really bad communication throughout the entire experience. Never made mention of the damages of a laptop he sold me.

This has been one of my worst experiences in a long time of buying/selling online. Be cautious when dealing with dutnguye. I do not trust him and recommend staying away if possible.

Edit 1: Forgot to mention, I asked dutnguye if the charger was a genuine Dell charger and he said 'Yes." It was not a Dell, it was Flextronics ( different dimensions). That was a lie. So yes, he lied too.

    Response from dutnguye
I listed a laptop for sale, buyer contact me wanting to buy right away without asking for any pictures.

I would never lied about my description and no where in my ad that it stated it's in great condition, i believe it has cosmetic imperfection hence the low price.

Buyer asked for picture that it's working and i sent him the picture of it up and running. He rushed me to send to him next day during a holiday which i still do and pay a higher cost of shipping ($42) because i have a use a bigger box since it's the only box i can find that day.

The day he received the item, he stated that condition is not what he is expected and i offer him a refund minus shipping which is what i usually do but he was very rude in the conversation and decide to escalate with Paypal. I even compromise with him and offer him a full refund provided he send back the laptop to me first and he still not accepting my offer.

I'm not sure what else he wants me to do, i have been very prompt with my communication with him and offer him refund.
